Employment
in the Renewable Energy sector - Final version.

|
RÉSUMÉ
: The contribution of Renewable Energy to Employment is also considerable.
As stated in the MITRE report until 2010 the employment growth is
significant the coming years. According the advance renewable strategy
scenario, the net employment growth is expected to be 1,660,000
new jobs until 2010 and 2,463,000 new jobs until 2020.
This handbook is a tool for occupational counsellors and career
advisors to help guide those who may be interested in pursuing a
career in the Renewable Energy Sector. It consists of two parts.
The first part provides an overview of the different technologies
within the Renewable Energy Sector. This includes an assessment
of the current state of the art of each technology and the potential
for development and employment. The second part of the handbook
provides example job-profiles covering the majority of skilled professions
and occupations that exist in the renewable energy labour market.
Many professions are applicable to several renewable energy technologies
and although variations occur between countries and companies the
job descriptions are designed to cover the widest range possible.
This handbook is part of a complete support package for occupational
counsellors and advisors which consists of : - The Renewable Energy
Sector Overview and Job-Profile Handbook ; - A Renewable Energy
Sectors Training Course Database for the 15 EU countries (which
is available in an electronic format from the internet) ; - An On-Line
Renewable Energy Sectors Job-Offer Database. Through informed guidance
and easily accessible resources it is hoped that individuals will
be able to benefit by engaging in fulfilling renewable energy career
opportunities and also facilitate the growth of Renewable Energy
Sector. The report was financed by the European Commission, in the
framework of the EARTHCARE project.
